Hi there! My name is Katie King. I am a teacher to 2nd graders! I previously taught 1st grade for seven years. I love picture books & children with my whole heart! I hope you enjoy my little happy place!

I’m an author, literacy specialist, mother, and former classroom teacher (4th and 5th grades).  I’ve been teaching teachers how to implement or refine the teaching of writing using the workshop model since 2009.

I’m a literacy specialist at a K-8 school in Northwestern CT. My job is two-fold: I work with at-risk first-grade readers, supporting them as they learn to read, and I work with classroom teachers, helping them improve and refine their literacy instruction.

Two public school teachers who read - a lot. Franki and Mary Lee are both teachers, and have been for more than 20 years.

I teach seventh grade and have been teaching for over twenty years. I am using this as a space for reflection on teaching, reading, writing, and life in general. My hope is that reading these posts brightens your day and you join in if you desire to do so.
